Aromatherapy & Botanical Support
Harnessing the natural power of essential oils, herbs, and botanical remedies, this gentle therapy supports emotional balance, relaxation, and overall wellbeing. Each session is individually tailored to help restore harmony between body and mind.

Aromatherapy is a gentle, holistic therapy that uses plant-derived essential oils and other botanical remedies to support a horse's physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. By working with both the aroma and the natural properties of plants, aromatherapy helps promote balance throughout the body and mind.
Horses possess an exceptionally sensitive sense of smell, far more developed than our own. Just as in humans, scent is closely connected to emotions, memory, and behavior. This makes aromatherapy a valuable tool for supporting horses during periods of stress, anxiety, restlessness, emotional imbalance, or environmental changes.
Essential oils are highly concentrated extracts that contain the aromatic essence of a plant. In nature, plants produce these compounds for protection, communication, and survival. When used appropriately, these same properties can help support a horse's natural ability to maintain balance and wellbeing.

Psychological Effects
When an aroma is inhaled, scent molecules are processed through the limbic system of the brain, an area closely associated with emotions, behavior, and memory. Depending on the plant or oil selected, this may help encourage relaxation, confidence, focus, or emotional balance.
Physiological Effects
Essential oils and other botanical preparations can be absorbed through inhalation and through the skin during massage or topical application. Once absorbed, they are distributed throughout the body and may help support circulation, muscle comfort, respiratory function, and the body's natural recovery processes.
At EQUINÓMAS, aromatherapy is never based on a standard protocol. Using a Lecher Antenna, I assess energetic frequencies within the body to help determine which plant-based remedies are most appropriate for the horse at that moment.
While essential oils are often used, support may also come from dried herbs, ground plants, or other natural botanical preparations. Plants such as nettle, chamomile, lavender, calendula, and many others have long been valued for their unique properties and their ability to support wellbeing.
This individualized approach allows each session to be tailored to the horse's current physical, emotional, and energetic needs, selecting only those plants and preparations that best resonate with the body at that time.
Every horse is unique, which is why each aromatherapy session is tailored to the individual. Aromatherapy may be used as a standalone therapy or integrated with other complementary treatments to support the horse as a whole and encourage harmony between body, mind, and overall well-being.
