Marcinski soft flow method (MSFM)
The Marcinski Soft Flow Method is a gentle, hands-on therapy that focuses on supporting the body's natural ability to restore balance, mobility, and wellbeing. The method is based on principles derived from CranioSacral Therapy and recognizes the close relationship between the nervous system, fascia, tissues, fluids, and the body's self-regulating mechanisms.
Rather than working through force or manipulation, the Marcinski Soft Flow Method uses subtle touch and careful observation to identify areas where movement, flow, or balance may be restricted. By encouraging the body to release tension and restore natural motion, this method aims to support comfort, relaxation, and overall function.
Benefits for your horse

1
Releases tension and restores physical comfort
MSFM works gently through the muscles and fascia to soften tight areas, dissolve built-up tension, and improve overall body comfort. This helps your horse move more freely and reduces the risk of compensation patterns.
2
Supports deep relaxation and emotional balance
Through slow, mindful techniques, MSFM encourages the horse’s nervous system to settle, lowering stress levels and creating a sense of calm and safety. This can be especially helpful for sensitive, anxious, or easily overwhelmed horses.
3
Enhances movement quality, suppleness, and performance
By improving flexibility, joint mobility, and postural balance, MSFM helps the horse develop healthier movement patterns. This supports smoother transitions, better coordination, and quicker recovery — benefiting both everyday riding and performance work.
Origins and History
The foundations of this approach can be traced back to Osteopathic Medicine. In the late nineteenth century, American physician Andrew Taylor Still developed osteopathy based on the principle that structure and function are closely connected. Later, osteopath William Garner Sutherland expanded upon these ideas and began studying subtle movements within the skull and their relationship to the rest of the body.
Over time, these concepts evolved into what became known as CranioSacral Therapy. Building upon these foundations, Anja Marcinski further developed the approach into the Marcinski Soft Flow Method, emphasizing a gentle, whole-body perspective that looks beyond isolated symptoms and focuses on restoring balance within interconnected systems throughout the body.

How It Works
The body functions as a connected network in which muscles, fascia, bones, organs, fluids, and the nervous system continuously influence one another. Restrictions or areas of tension within one part of the body can affect movement and function elsewhere.
Using light touch, the Marcinski Soft Flow Method aims to identify these areas of imbalance and support the body's natural ability to release tension and improve communication between its various systems. Treatment is gentle, non-invasive, and tailored to the individual horse.
